Having an enjoyable hotel experience is dependent on how the management guarantee the safety of all, especially when it comes to children. Anxious parents cannot be expected to enjoy the many amenities of the hotel if they are not assured of their children’s welfare. It is the responsibility of the hotel management to ensure that children are always kept safe. There are also added precautions parents and guardians can take to improve safety. Three of these are listed below.

Practice a buddy system: Some children prefer going about with someone their age. It is understandable. For cases like these, it is best to partner a child with a partner such as an older sibling or friend whom the parents trust completely. Children below five should not be permitted to walk alone unattended. Most hotel staff will be keeping an eye on children left alone.
Be connected: The oldest of the children should have a mobile device, or a means to communicate with their parents or guardians. This is invaluable in cases of emergencies or injuries. Another good recommendation is to inform hotel staff that children will be walking around a certain area. Staff will already be on a lookout, but this acts as another safety measure.
Have a unique call for help: In very rare cases, the older child will be shouting for help and be unable to reach the parent or staff because of the usual activity in a hotel. Parents and children are recommended to have a unique shout or call that will immediately get an adult’s attention.
